Confidence

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1:6

The Apostle Paul’s words of encouragement hold true as we walk daily in this crazy world today.  Each of us have experienced unique obstacles and challenges this year.  It’s been frightening, deflating and very overwhelming at times. I have heard, “Is 2020 over yet?” and, “I can’t wait for 2020 to be over” more times than I can count. Many people are ready to give up but Paul says, “being confident of this,” meaning because of what has already been done for you, simply continue to be confident. He’s not telling the reader to be confident as a new command, rather he counts on the reader to have already attained this confidence.

So, what is confidence and how do you attain it? Confidence is the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something. As a follower of Jesus, I have a firm trust in His life, sacrifice, death and resurrection; so, I strive daily to live out this confidence to my best in every aspect of my life: mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Especially in a crazy Covid-filled world.

Are you confident that you are becoming the best you? I must confess, there have been times in my life where I definitely fell short. I became complacent with my health, gained weight, made poor eating decisions and felt lousy. I lost confidence in my physical ability and got to a point where I felt as though I was drowning and needed a lifeguard to save me.  Have you ever felt this way? I’m guessing I’m not alone.  As you enter into this Holiday season I know it’s easy to fall off the wagon, to get a little lazier, to make poor food choices consistently or to just “pause” healthy life choices all together.

Recently, Margaret shared a quote with the coaches at 413. Ben Bergeron said, “Doctors are like life guards, they save you when you’re drowning, we need to be the swim coach, to prevent you from drowning in the first place.”

I was like, YESSSS! That’s why I do what I do.

I’m reminded WHY I finally chose to learn how to swim! It is so freeing to learn how to swim and now I’m able to coach others desiring the same outcome!

So my question for every reader is this: What is your “being confident of this” mantra? As 2020 comes to an end, we at 413 long and pray for confidence as you strive to be the best you, each and every day.

1% better is our desire for you!
