When Jonathan joined 413 Fit Club, his motivation went far beyond the weight loss, or reading the number on the scale.
“Over time, I had gained weight slowly, and I knew I wasn’t healthy,” Jonathan shared. “My mom and dad had both recently had major heart issues, and that was a wake-up call. Since then, I lost about 30 pounds on my own, but I’d plateaued.”
After listening to Outlive by Peter Attia, Jonathan realized it was time to make a real change — not just for weight loss, but for his long-term health. “Time is on my side to get my numbers in check, but every day I procrastinated was another day that slipped by. My goal was and still is to be in the best shape I can be to keep up with my kids — and eventually my grandkids.”
Building Strength, One Percent at a Time
When Jonathan started at 413, his goals were simple: lose another 20 pounds and gain strength. But what he discovered along the way was that progress isn’t always linear — and that’s okay.
“The first 30 pounds came off pretty quickly, but the next 20 have not been easy. ‘1% better’ is the motto, and I think that’s the most sustainable approach,” he said.
Like many of our members, Jonathan has faced obstacles — from injuries, to moments of lost discipline. “I always tell my kids that I have a ‘fat boy inside me’ who likes to eat,” he laughed. “But showing up and staying consistent is how I keep him in check.”
Real Changes, Inside and Out
Since starting his journey at 413, Jonathan has taken his body fat percentage from 24% down to 18.6%. However, he hasn’t just transformed his body but also his mindset.
“I’ve completely changed the way I eat. I cut out sugary drinks and most sugar, and I pay attention to my protein and carb intake. I still have off days, but I balance that by religiously hitting the gym three to four times a week.”

For Jonathan, the biggest surprise has been the people.
“The most beneficial part of joining 413 is the community,” he said. “Everyone is supportive and meets you where you are. From beginners to experts, everyone’s focused on improving themselves. It’s really neat to work out with people for weeks and months and see them grow in strength and confidence.”
