From Hospital Bed to Healing: A Story of Faith, Friendship, and Fighting for Health

There are moments in life that change the way you see your future forever.

For Ronnie, that moment came in a hospital bed:

While recovering, surrounded by his wife and close friends, the conversation shifted from survival to responsibility. Together, they talked about what life would look like moving forward, and they made a decision that would shape everything that followed:

Faith and health would become top priorities.

Ronnie remembers praying, asking God to let him get out of that hospital. He also knew he had some changes to make.

“I couldn’t sit there begging God to let me get out and then not do anything about it when I did.”

The Wake-Up Call

Ronnie’s health had reached a critical point.

He had just undergone a procedure to place a stent due to a 90% arterial blockage. He was overweight, facing complications from type 2 diabetes, and dealing with kidney problems as well.

When he was discharged from the hospital, the reality of his condition was sitting in a pill organizer:

12 different medications.

That number became his starting line — and his motivation.

His goals were crystal clear:

Lose the weight.
Get healthy.
Get off the medications.

Confronting the Habits

Like many people, he knew his daily habits had played a role in his declining health.

Fast food was routine — McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Wendy’s.

Exercise was rare.

Soda was constant.

But once he joined 413, those patterns began to change — not overnight, but intentionally.

With the support of wellness coaches and the structure of the program, he began replacing old habits with life-giving ones:

  • Fast food was eliminated
  • Soda was cut out
  • Workouts became consistent

And movement extended beyond the gym walls.

On days Ronnie wasn’t training at 413, he made it a priority to stay active — playing basketball, pickleball and going for walks.

Strength in Brotherhood

While his faith was his foundation, his friendships became one of his greatest sources of accountability.

Walking through the doors of 413 alongside lifelong friends Mitch Craig and Adam Duckworth changed everything.

They didn’t just work out together — they pushed each other, challenged each other, and held each other accountable.

There was encouragement.

There was even a little competition.

And that shared journey became one of the biggest reasons he stayed committed when things got hard.

Seven Months That Changed Everything

Over the past seven months, transformation has touched every part of his life — physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Through consistent effort, coaching support, and unwavering faith, he has experienced breakthroughs that once felt impossible:

  • Completely off all diabetes medications
  • Significant reduction in blood pressure medication
  • Major weight loss
  • Renewed strength and energy

He once set a goal to reach 175 pounds — a number that felt unrealistic at the time.

Today, he stands right on the doorstep of that goal.

Not by luck.

Not by shortcuts.

But by faith, discipline, and perseverance.

A Battle Before the Breakthrough

His journey wasn’t linear.

In April, he endured one of the most physically grueling seasons of his life:

  • Four surgeries
  • Four blood transfusions
  • Eight days confined to an inverted bed

His blood pressure would drop dangerously low whenever he tried to sit upright.

Today, he says something that once would have seemed impossible:

He feels better than he ever has.

Giving Glory Where It’s Due

While 413 played a major role in his healing — through coaching, programming, and community — he is unwavering about where the credit belongs.

“Blake and his team at 413 have been faithful servants of Christ in my life, and this program has truly been a God-send. I give all the glory to God for what He has done and continues to do in my health and recovery.”

Ronnie’s story is proof that health transformation isn’t just physical — it’s spiritual, emotional, and communal.
